History
The Cypress Valley Home Educators Association, a Christian home school support group based in Marshall, Texas, had its beginnings in 1989 when several local families decided to meet together to gain support from each other for home schooling. During the first year, home schoolers met sporadically. There was one organized field trip to the central police/fire station.
In 1990, we chose the name Cypress Valley Home Educators Association (CVHEA) to reflect a desire to reach out to the area beyond the City of Marshall. In 1992, CVHEA members formed a charter committee to establish by-laws and organizational goals. Our first board was elected in June of 1992. Past chairmen are: Mike Miga, Nathan Bach, Tammy Miga, Leonard Wiley and Bill Spray.
Cypress Valley Home Educators Association of Harrison County ceased meeting in 1997, but continued to offer this website as a source of information for home schoolers and potential home schoolers in the Marshall-Harrison County area. In 2004, a group of homeschoolers in Marion County took on the CVHEA name and this website.
